Because I love you I will follow
Here’s my life, I lay it down at Your feet
No longer I, now it’s all for Christ
Even if I’m called to sow in tears
Your love shall cast away my fears
My heart and flesh may fail
But God is the strength of my heart
And my portion forever is He

Because I love you I will follow
Here’s my life, I lay it down at Your feet
No longer I, now it’s all for Christ
Even if I’m called to sow in tears
Your love shall cast away my fears
My heart and flesh may fail
But God, You’re the strength of my heart
And my portion forever is He

There’s nothing I desire more than You
But till I’m in Your arms here’s what I’ll do

I will consecrate my life
I will place you like a seal over my heart
You and I, lives exchanged
Now your blood runs through these veins
I’ll put on Your signet ring
I will serve You as long as I live
Watching and waiting until you come back for me

Watching and waiting until
Watching and waiting until
Watching and waiting until
You come back for me

Ella

My love song for Jesus.

Steve

This song was all Ella.  She wrote it for the Set Apart Girls conference in 2013.  Something special happened the first time we ever played this together, and there hasn’t been a time since that it hasn’t been special, and by special I mean the Holy Spirit really moves. I remember that conference.  She sang early one morning during the worship service. No one had ever heard it before. The next day she sang it again and several hundred women were singing it back like they’d known it for years.  I was playing keys and it so moved me from where I was.  It really shocked me.  I don’t hear that very often.

Shortly after we started the recording for this song.  Ella and her family came up to my small studio in the mountains where we captured what we felt was a strong performance with just voice and piano.  The piano track you hear is what we recorded that day.  Literally weeks later, the Colorado flood happened and my family was evacuated off our mountain in an Army Chinook helicopter. All I had was my studio hard drives and a back pack full of clothes!  About a month later we scraped some equipment together and recorded in a large empty room which will be the new Irish Elk studio in Windsor, CO.  I only had iPod  headphones to hear what she was singing, and didn’t even have a chair to sit on.  There was nothing in the room. As we started recording, something changed about half way through the song; Ella couldn’t sing.  She started to weep and couldn’t stop.  She’d try to keep singing but every time, at the same point, started to weep.  I’m sitting on the floor in the corner, and I start to weep.  It was one of the most tangible and sweet moments I’ve ever experienced in the Holy Spirit.  This lasted for about 45 minutes.  It wasn’t a small thing.  I’ve recorded a bunch over the years but have never experienced this.  We felt as though the Lord had hallmarked this song and put His signature of approval by how He “interrupted” the recording session.  It is something I will not soon forget.  I believe this song will touch many people’s lives and is an anthem to the soul of our utter dependence upon Him, yet articulates His beautiful desire for each and every one  of us to have union with and in Him.
